I just finished swapping winter wheels and tires on my winter beater. Front passenger hub had not one, but TWO broken wheel studs. Why the hell did they go to shit now?
Tomorrow is now going to suck.

For this car, it's always been lug wrenched by hand, no air tools. That's what's killing me

I was gonna say I've never had an issue with my air tools and I tend to over tighten them a bit every time.

uhhhhhhhhhhhh no. Now the threads are jacked and the dust shield thing and the stud has been ground down. It seems it would take just as long to remove the hub and do it the right way and have studs without ruined threads or cut down and could replace all the studs very quickly off the car.

Do you use a torque wrench to tighten them?

In previous years, some yes, some no. Thoroughness can be a 2nd priority to a lack of free time.
This time around, I wasn't putting lugs on or off, I was actually just moving the wheel over. The first lug fell off when I bumped into it with my hand, the second after a quick tug on the remaining lugs.
